HYPER JAPAN will host a show stage in the venue featuring a number of cultural demonstrations and talks--all completely free! Autograph Session with Miki Satoshi and Eri Fuse To mark the release of the Miki Satoshi Collection, Miki Satoshi and actor Fuse Eri will be ready and waiting to sign your DVDs! Don't forget to check out their earlier showcase and talk on the HYPER JAPAN main stage.
British Kendo Association: Jodo The British Kendo Association will be demonstrating Jodo, the Japanese art of stick fighting. Commentary explaining the history and logic behind this Japanese martial art will also be provided.
Helen McCarthy: Haiku Workshop An introduction to the fascinating world of the 7-5-7 poem. Find out about the history of haiku and how it is still used today, in ever more creative and multimedia forms. You can also have a go at composing your own haiku!
Masa-kun and Friends Masa-kun is an electric violinist who has played at many Japan related events. Playing with the band Utopia, he will be performing eclectic and creative variations of fantastic music that hail from Japanese and Western fandom sources.
Mumeishi Kendo Club: Kendo and the art of Japanese sword fencing Mumeishi Kendo Club is one of the oldest London dojos, running for over 40 years. Terry Holt sensei is the club's chief instructor, and has been practicing kendo for almost 50 years. Come and find our more about one of Japan's most popular martial arts.
Tea Ceremony with Maiko Ikeda See the beautiful and ancient practice of the Japanese tea ceremony performed by Miss University of Tokyo 2009, Maiko Ikeda. Currently living and working in London, Maiko is keen to share her cultural heritage with those who want to learn more about Japan's ancient traditions.
